On Saturday, Israeli warplanes attacked Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, with sirens continuing to sound in northern occupied Palestine, following the firing of shells from Lebanese territory, according to an Israeli army statement.
The statement added, “Army aircraft attacked several infrastructure belonging to the Hezbollah organization earlier today (Saturday).”
Sirens sounded in a number of towns adjacent to the Lebanese border, including Kiryat Shmona.
These developments come as the border between the two sides has witnessed, since last October 8, intense tension and intermittent exchange of fire between the Israeli occupation army on the one hand, and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions on the other hand, after the aggression on Gaza.
“Shelling from Lebanon”
The army said: “Following the warnings in the north of the country, a number of launches were monitored from Lebanese territory towards Israeli territory.” The army explained that it “attacked the sources of fire with artillery.”
In this context, the Israeli army announced, earlier on Saturday, that it had “detected the launching of about 25 shells from Lebanon towards Israeli territory, without causing any casualties.”
He said: His forces carried out “artillery shelling towards the sources of fire.”
At dawn today, the Israeli army announced that it intercepted an air-to-surface missile launched from Lebanese territory, according to an official statement.
A statement issued by the Israeli army said: “After a state of alert in the north of the country, air defense fighters succeeded in intercepting an air-to-surface missile that was launched from Lebanese territory at an Israeli army drone.”
The army statement added: “The alert was raised after the interceptor missiles were launched.”
Hezbollah announces the downing of an Israeli march
For its part, Lebanese Hezbollah announced that it shot down an Israeli march with a surface-to-air missile, at dawn on Saturday, over the Galilee finger area on the Lebanese border.
The party said in a statement: It “shot down an enemy Israeli Hermes 450, a multi-mission combat drone, with a surface-to-air missile.”
He pointed out that “his fighters launched the missile at 01:45 a.m. today, Saturday, and its debris was seen falling over the Galilee Finger area.”
Yesterday, Friday, the Israeli army announced that 3 Israelis were injured as a result of an anti-tank missile being fired from Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee region in the north of the country.
Hezbollah announced on Friday that it had targeted military sites and several gatherings of Israeli soldiers in various locations opposite the southern Lebanese border, confirming that “direct hits had been achieved.”
