Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Indonesian National team will follow Thailand can not fly the country’s flag in AFF Cup 2020 (AFF Cup 2021).
When Thailand appeared against Timor Leste in the inaugural match of the AFF Cup, Sunday (5/12), the national flag of the White Elephant Team could not be raised.
When the Thai players sing their national anthem, on the screen of the Singapore National Stadium only the Thai Football Federation logo appears. This is in the aftermath of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) punishment.
The Indonesian national team, which was also sanctioned by WADA, will feel the same way.
The Red and White flag will not be able to fly when the national anthem Indonesia Raya is played when the Indonesian national team fights Cambodia in the inaugural match of Group B in the 2020 AFF Cup (2021), Thursday (9/12).
It is possible that the Red and White flag will be replaced by the Garuda Pancasila logo.
As is known, the Indonesian Anti-Doping Agency (LADI) was sanctioned by WADA for not being able to fulfill the anti-doping program on September 17, 2021.
This sanction was imposed after LADI was reminded several times to comply with its anti-doping program but was ignored.
As a result, WADA punished Indonesia by not being able to fly the national flag at international events.
This has had an impact on Indonesia in the 2020 Thomas Cup (2021). At that time the Indonesian men’s badminton team won the championship title, but the Indonesian flag was replaced by the PBSI flag during the gold medal procession and singing the national anthem.
The sanctions also apply to the Indonesian national team that will compete in the 2021 AFF Cup which will take place from 5 December 2021 to 1 January 2022 in Singapore.
In this event, the Indonesian national team joined in Group B along with Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and Laos.
