TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Xiaomi foldable phone, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, is rumored to be coming sooner than expected. The Ice Universe leaker tweeted on August 8, 2022 that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will be launched on August 11, 2022 or the day after Samsung’s foldable device. Usually Xiaomi indicates a new launch a few weeks in advance, so this incident came as a bit of a surprise.
The date may not be coincidental, when the CEO Xiaomi Lei Jun will deliver his third annual lecture on August 11, “I want to talk about something different: everyone faces setbacks and failures in the process of growing up, how I got out of the trough in life, and what life insights I gained,” wrote the CEO.
However, several leakers including Ice and Digital Chat Station saw screenshots from Lao Wei, Xiaomi Mobile Product Manager, which allegedly came from Mix Fold 2.
The device has a resolution of 1,080 x 2,520px, with a rumored 21:9 aspect for the phone’s cover display. In comparison, the cover display on the original Mi Mix Fold has a slim 27:9 ratio.
Also, the screens of the early phones had a refresh rate of 90Hz, while the new ones will go up to 120Hz (according to rumours). This means that the internal display will have an aspect ratio of 10.3:9 (instead of 4:3 as on its predecessor).
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 12GB RAM and 512GB or 1TB of storage. It will support 56W fast charging, just like its predecessor.
The device has an open size of 173.3 x 133.4 x 7.6 mm, while the closed one is 173.3 x 69.8 x 17.2 mm. On an 8.01-inch Foldable AMOLED display with 1 billion colors, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 900 nits.
On the back has 3 cameras, with the main camera 108 MP, f/1.8, wide. There are 13 MP, f / 2.4, 123, ultrawide and 8 MP telephoto / macro cameras. Its video capabilities are 8K@24/30fps, 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60fps, gyro-EIS. While the 20 MP front camera has video capabilities of 1080p@30/60fps, 720p@120fps.
For audio it has four speakers from Harman Kardon, but does not have a 3.5 mm jack. The battery capacity is 5020 mAh.
