Weeks ago, the folk singer Deborah was arrested after crashing into another car on Cherni Vrah Blvd. in Sofia. At the scene of the accident, the coroner reported 2.9 per thousand. A blood test confirmed the same amount of alcohol in the blood.
“It turns out that my body breaks down alcohol slowly. But the amount that both the doctor and the blood sample showed, in my opinion, is not real,” said Deborah in an interview with bTV.
The folk singer explained that the night before she crashed, she had guests and drank about 5 glasses of wine until late, she slept about 5-6 hours. In the morning she did not feel dizzy, but tired.
“For 4 months now I have been taking panic attack medication and seizure medication that works on panic attacks. In the evening, after the alcohol, I also drank a rather strong sleeping pill, which I have been taking for the fourth month now. I know it’s not to be taken with alcohol, but I drank it on impulse,” explained the folk singer.
She specified that she did not hit a stopped car, but a moving car. She claims that she was traveling at 20 km/h, and the driver in front of her stopped abruptly and she did not have time to react. However, she admits that she may have been distracted by the phone or the radio.
“My profession is such that I constantly travel, constantly drive, I have never allowed myself to get behind the wheel drunk, to endanger someone’s human life, let alone a child. I am also a parent, I have a 5-year-old son,” Deborah also said in her defense.
