DIJON OPERA (N°1-LR2010149 / N°2-LR2010150 / N°3-LR2010151 / N°4-LR2010152) presents this concert. Artistic direction and choreography by Mourad Merzouki. Folia is a beautiful encounter between baroque music, Italian tarantella, hip-hop and the choreographic gesture of Mourad Merzouki. It is a show of rare poetry and which celebrates sharing.
By organizing the encounter between the baroque music of the Concert de l’Hostel Dieu, electronic music, hip-hop, also adding a hint of Spain or Italy and a whirling dervish, Mourad Merzouki does more than stage a choreographic performance. He seeks to create a spark of encounter between the arts, cultures and eras, capable of inflaming the imagination.
Mourad Merzouki wants to dream of a form of universal beauty where bodies would dance to the rhythm of the dance of the worlds. Folia is a boudoir of scholarly music, a window onto the universe, a game and a popular party. Folia celebrates the unreason inscribed at the heart of any creative act, and invites lyricism, fury and seduction.
