KUALA PEMBUANG, radarsampit.com – The Regional Government (Pemda) of Seruyan Regency through the local Health Service together with the Kuala Pemburan I Health Center of Seruyan Regency held fogging or fumigation, to eradicate mosquitoes that cause dengue fever, Friday (9/6).
This fogging is the second time round within one week after the first fogging by the Health Office (Dinkes) and the Kuala Pemburan I Health Center, Seruyan Regency.
Head of the Seruyan District Health Office Bahrun Abbas said the fogging was carried out to eradicate mature mosquitoes, because it only takes eight days for mosquito larvae to grow to an adult stage.
“This fogging has been carried out twice, with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for two cycles in the same place,” he said.
Not only repelling mosquitoes, continued Bahrun, fogging also kills mosquitoes, especially carriers (vectors) of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).
He added that the program implemented by the Health Service is primarily aimed at eradicating mosquito nests (PSN) which is carried out at least once a week, and the existence of PSN will be effective in preventing DHF transmission by eradicating mosquito eggs and larvae.(rm-105/gus)
