Foden’s absence in England-Ukraine match due to his appendix

It was decided to exclude Phil Foden, the star of the England national team, from the list of the team that will host the Ukrainian national team, later today, Sunday, in the second round of Group C in the qualifiers for the European Nations Cup (Euro 2024) for football.
Foden, 22, was absent from the match due to undergoing surgery to remove the appendix on Sunday morning.

Foden participated as a substitute during the England national team’s 1-2 victory over its host Italy in the opening round of the group, last Thursday, before he was replaced later during the match, and he trained with his teammates normally yesterday, Saturday.

And the British news agency (BA Media) reported that the Manchester City player felt unwell and was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery today, Sunday.

“Phil Foden has been ruled out of this evening’s UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier with Ukraine, following surgery to remove his appendix this morning,” the FA said in a statement.

“England manager Gareth Southgate has not called up a substitute, which means he has 20 players to choose from after Reece James and Luke Shaw were also suspended from the list earlier,” the statement added.

It has not been revealed how long Foden will be out of action, and whether or not he will be absent from Manchester City in the upcoming meetings.
