The Lim couple, whose address had been moved to Gimpo without their knowledge, was in danger of losing their rental deposit.

Instead, there is a mortgage loan in front of the Pyeongtaek house where Mr. Lim rented and lived, right?

It was a loan that did not exist at the time of the contract, but who and what did this loan do?

Reporter Park Cheol-hyun covered the story.

I went to an officetel in Gurae-dong, Gimpo.

There is a sign on the front door telling you to pick up the mail, and there are also parcels delivered last year.

The mailbox on the first floor is packed with overdue bills.

The recipient is Mr. Jo, the landlord of Pyeongtaek, where newlyweds Mr. Lim and his wife live.

″He actually lived there, but he never paid the management fee or rent, so he left because it was a problem. Now he doesn’t live there.”

Mr. Cho bought a villa in Pyeongtaek last year for the same amount as the jeonse deposit.

A loan broker approached Mr. Cho, who bought it at the word that he could make money through so-called tin villas, but had no other income.

″He said he would let me get a loan for the amount I wanted, so he asked me to meet him for a while. Soothe it.”

Proposal to borrow money using Pyeongtaek house as collateral.

In order to secure collateral, there had to be no tenants.

Brokers said that procedures such as making fake seals were carried out in an instant.

″They gave me the move-in report and told me to take it with me and go and submit it to the district office now. I just submitted the documents they gave me.”

On the same day that Mr. Lim and his wife moved their address to an empty house in Gimpo, Mr. Cho moved only his address back to his house in Pyeongtaek, and borrowed 40 million won from a loan shark with the house in Pyeongtaek, which has no tenants, as collateral.

The broker was given half of this as a commission.

It is highly likely that such an illegal lending organization was involved in 7 cases where the address was moved without the tenant’s knowledge and the landlord took out a loan and the police investigation is underway.

The number of victims may be higher because tenants often do not separately check their address on paper before the charter period expires.
