Four days after the call to RATP by four unions, it was the turn of an SNCF union, FO-Cheminots, to initiate a “Day off” in transport Monday, February 17, the day the National Assembly will begin examining the pension reform bill in plenary.

Fifth SNCF union, FO-Cheminots launches “A national call to strike”, thus extending outside Ile-de-France the appeal of the UNSA, SUD, FO and Solidaires unions of RATP, Philippe Herbeck, secretary general of FO-Cheminots, told AFP.

“A dead day in transport with the SNCF-RATP call unit makes sense to remind this government that it is still not! “ to pension reform, says the union.

FO-Cheminots “Will do everything possible to extend this day of appeal to other federations and railway structures and reproduce the force of the strike which began on December 5”, first day of mobilization against the reform.

“The tool for victory is the strike”

“We reaffirm by this initiative that, if street demonstrations are important means of expression and visibility, the tool for victory is indeed the strike together to block the economy, continues the union, which “Will also engage in the day of interprofessional call of February 20”.

On February 6, the UNSA, the first union at RATP, called for a “Black monday” on February 17 in the metros and RER, and had been joined the next day by three other unions of the management – SUD, FO and Solidaires. Together, they called for a “Day off” February 17 on all of the Régie’s networks – metro, RER, bus and tram – to obtain ” withdrawal “ of the points retirement scheme project.

In search of renewal after the mid-January interruption of the strike renewable by the RATP and the SNCF, the intersyndicale has hinted at the possibility of new interprofessional demonstrations and strikes but also of longer-term initiatives.
