The Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) celebrated this Sunday the 44th anniversary of its founding. The Front was born as a result of the union of five political-military organizations and after the signing of peace it became a political party.
44 years ago the PCS, FPL, ERP, RN and PRTC founded the FMLN, with the objective of joining forces and fighting against the injustice, repression and oppression of the government in power, towards Salvadoran families.
In these 44 years the FMLN has played an important role in overcoming conflicts, signing peace, dialogue to solve the country’s problems and fighting for a true participatory and transparent democracy.
The general secretary of the FMLN, Manuel Flores, assured that the party is the synthesis of the struggle of Farabundo Martín, Feliciano Ama, Francisco Sánchez, Modesto Ramírez and Anastasio Aquino, the Front was also born as a product of the unitary process of the revolutionary forces.
“Our DNA is revolutionary unity, on October 10, 1980 thousands of conscious Salvadorans united in defense of the victims of social injustice, the FMLN is a historical conquest of the revolutionary struggle of our hero, to undertake decisive battles for his definitive release,” he emphasized.
Now, the Front fights so that the errors of the past are not repeated and the dictatorship of the current regime does not continue to violate human rights at all levels, nor trample on the reformed Constitution and eliminate the changes achieved.
