The researchers said the NPIs used on aircraft to reduce the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission include High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, mandatory mask policies, high-touch surface disinfection, health statements from passengers and crew before flying, and education and awareness of COVID-19.
“The risk of catching COVID-19 on an airplane is put under the risk of other routine activities during the pandemic, such as shopping for groceries or eating out. Implementing this multi-layered risk mitigation strategy requires passenger and airline compliance, but will help ensure that air travel is as safe or much safer than the routine activities people engage in during these times, “says the study published by the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. , as quoted by the page Times Now News.
