Fluminense Faces Disciplinary Court After Controversial Game Against Argentinos Juniors

Fluminense has one more case to respond to in the Disciplinary Court of Conmebol, after the suspension applied to left-back Marcelo. For being the principal, the club was denounced for a list of episodes in the game against Argentinos Juniors, for the round of 16 of the Libertadores, last Tuesday (8).

What happened

The security official’s report recorded confrontation between Argentine fans and security forces (private agents and military police).

The match delegate reported racial abuse by one of the Argentinos fans to a security guard. There were shouts of “monkey”.

Fluminense fans exploded at least four bombs throughout the game in the stands.

Objects were thrown into the field by the Fluminense fans.

Argentine fans also threw cups towards the tricolor crowd.

What can happen to Fluminense

Conmebol’s Disciplinary Code is broad. It ranges from fines to more serious punishments, such as closing sectors of the stadium.

The tricolor was already surprised by a punishment considered serious to Marcelo for the expulsion in the first leg against Argentinos – three games.
