This week flu vaccination begins throughout the country with the objective that the population reaches the cold months protected against the influenza virus.
In the case of the city of Córdoba, the Secretariat for Prevention and Community Health Care of the Municipality of Córdoba received 6,800 doses delivered by the Ministry of the Nation.
The triple-valent vaccines have already been distributed to vaccination centers and health centers, which will be intended for health personnel from all areas and functions, pregnant women, and people with oncological diseases.
Once this priority has been fulfilled, as new doses arrive, coverage will be gradually expanded to the other groups of the target population.
In the coming days, shipments of the quadrivalent vaccine for people over 65 years of age and pediatrics are expected.
It should be noted that flu vaccination is free for the target audience and can be administered simultaneously with other vaccines, such as Covid, if more than four months have elapsed since the last application.
The flu vaccine is indicated for:
– Boys and girls from 6 to 24 months (there are two doses, with a minimum interval of 4 weeks).
– From 65 years of age.
– Pregnant people, in any trimester of pregnancy.
– People from 2 to 64 years of age with risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, congenital immunodeficiencies or kidney or heart failure.
– Strategic personnel: different groups may be incorporated depending on the number of doses and the dynamics of the campaign.

The Ministry of Health of the Nation informed that it acquired 9,300,000 doses in order to reduce the complications of the influenza virus in the population. Of that total, 1,500,000 are pediatric vaccines.
The national flu vaccination campaign is formally launched on Friday, March 17 in the city of San Martín de los Andes, but a first distribution of 730,130 doses has already been completed, of which 54,240 arrived in the province of Córdoba.
