Flu Vaccination Decreases Compared to 2020

Health experts say fewer people have gotten the flu vaccine this year compared to 2020.

Much is believed to be due to few flu cases and many more COVID-19 cases last year.

Pediatrician Dr. Martin Garza says that flu symptoms can be similar to those of the coronavirus, especially in children.

“Part of the reason we didn’t have the flu last year was because people weren’t together, congregating in one area,” Garza said. “Today in this month we are together more, going to parties, the school is open so that indicates that probably this year we will have the flu, the disease, it is dangerous for babies and for people with chronic problems.”

The flu vaccine recommendation remains the same — once a year before winter season.

According to medical experts, the highest number of infections are seen in the months of January and February.
