Flu Outbreak in Teleorman County: A Growing Concern Amid Legislative Changes
the flu season in Teleorman County has taken a concerning turn, with a significant rise in infections compared to previous years.According to the Teleorman Public Health Directorate, between january 27 and February 2, a staggering 1,073 infections were recorded. Among these, 206 cases were pneumonia, 64 required hospitalization, and 153 were confirmed influenza cases, with 22 needing additional care.
This surge in cases is attributed to two primary factors: the refusal of people to vaccinate and legislative changes regarding vaccine access. “If in the past years the flu vaccine could be obtained from the family doctor, now those who want to get it must first visit a doctor for a prescription and then purchase it from pharmacies,” explains a recent report.

The Alexandria County Hospital reported 53 flu patients, with 43 being children. In a critical case, a 35-week-old premature baby with respiratory problems was urgently transported to a hospital in the Capital via a SMURD helicopter.
