Flu and Covid-19 Vaccination Campaigns in Panama: Protect Yourself and Others

Respiratory viruses such as influenza and covid-19 continue to circulate in the country, the latter with a lower prevalence than a year ago, however, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) carries out vaccination days to prevent the spread of both viruses.

Earlier this week it was reported on the death of two people because of the flu, a contagious disease that can attack the nose, throat and even the lungs. This has been the reason for the health authorities to reinforce the vaccination campaign against the disease.

This vaccine must be supplied annually, and as epidemiologists have explained, the virus changes its information year after year, so a medicine must be created with the circulating strain, this is applied to people starting in April with the so-called “Vaccination of the Americas”.

In parallel, the Minsa is also applying the bivalent vaccine against covid-19 to whoever requests it, and is available to the population over 5 years of age.

This weekend a day of flu vaccination in different parts of the country, one of them is the sector of San José in Las Mañanitas, Calle 21 El Chorrillo, the Metropolitan Region.

In San Miguelito It is applied in the different health centers, community boards, pay zones, Los Andes Shopping Center, Rey de Villa Lucre.

It also extends to East Panama, Colon, Los Santos, Veraguas, and Chiriqui.

In addition, the Minsa has reported that the doses of the national scheme will be being placed on those who require it.

The health authorities have assured that, after the covid-19 pandemic, which has so far left 8,624 deathsthe country has a robust hospital capacity to attend to any situation that could be generated with influenza or with the covid itself, but they reiterate the call to the population to be inoculated against these diseases.
