FLÖRSHEIM – Flörsheim (red). Owners of residential property in the noise protection area of Frankfurt Airport can still submit applications for structural noise protection to the Darmstadt Regional Council. The city of Flörsheim points this out. In addition, some of them can receive additional money from the regional fund and compensation for the limited use of their outdoor living space. However, the application deadlines end this year.

“For applications for structural noise protection, the final invoices from the craftsmen must be available in addition to the application,” explains Holger Trodt from the regional council’s noise protection team. Since relatively long waiting times can currently be expected when commissioning craftsmen, he recommends all those affected who have not yet submitted any applications or who have not yet implemented measures promised by the authorities by means of a preliminary decision to do so promptly.

In the so-called day protection zone 1 of the airport, claims for noise protection can be asserted for all common rooms of the respective property. In the case of properties in the night protection zone, only noise protection measures for bedrooms are checked. The application deadline for this is October 12, 2021.

In addition, around 17,000 households can access additional state funds from the regional fund for the implementation of structural noise protection measures – such as the installation of soundproof windows, the city of Flörsheim reports. For this, those affected receive up to 4,350 euros per household on proof. The application deadline for this is December 31 of this year.

Owners of a property located in day protection zone 1 receive a lump-sum compensation for outdoor living areas – for a single-family house, for example, this is 3700 euros. Anyone wishing to apply for compensation through a market valuation of their property in order to receive a higher amount of compensation must attach a market valuation report from the relevant expert committee for real estate valuation to the application.

Alternatively, for certain property types there is also the option of having the market value calculated roughly. Since lead times are also to be expected here, the regional council recommends that the applications – if not already done – be submitted soon. The application deadline for this also ends on October 12, 2021.

You can determine whether a property is in the respective zones by entering an address via the noise protection portal on the RP website. The Darmstadt Regional Council can also provide information by e-mail to [email protected] or by calling 06151-123 100.

On the website of the authority (rp-darmstadt.hessen.de) there is more information on the noise protection programs and the application process under the search term “noise protection area”. The respective forms can also be downloaded there; they can also be requested by post from the RP (Regional Council Darmstadt, Team Schallschutz, 64278 Darmstadt).
