Former Transport Minister Cătălin Drulă considers that the interim prime minister Florin Cîţu is an “expired political product” because it has reached 7 percent popularity. He claims that former PNL president Ludovic Orban is “a practitioner of a type of clientelism taken to the extreme”.
Cătălin Drulă was asked, on Thursday evening, at Profit News, if USR leaves the door open for negotiations if PNL and PSD do not agree.
“It is a limit of ridicule, although in Romania I think we have crossed some big barriers in these two months, especially through the behavior of the PNL leader Florin Cîţu, even of the president of Romania during this period. In fact, I consider equals to be to blame for this crisis. We announced that we have gone into opposition, there is no option in which you negotiate ministries, government programs. I read somewhere that things are going extremely well. After PSD was demonized for three, four years by the president of Romania, by the PNL leaders, they built a whole electoral scam on this speech and now, as Mr. Cîţu said, we found many things in common, the top it’s that it’s true “, Cătălin Drulă transmitted.
He claimed that Florin Cîţu is “an expired political product”.
“They still kept her with Florin Cîţu. Man is an expired political product, he has 7 percent popularity and could have unfairly reached 7 percent, he could have been a man who took unpopular reform measures, there are ways to not judge a man only for that, but seeing him as a political leader, seeing him as a government leader, as behavior is completely justified. In his case, as the public sees him and as the politician, it is a congruence. (…) The behavior of leading a government is also completely inappropriate. A leader of a coalition government must be of all parties and understand a balance of negotiations, to be tactful, calm, not threatening “, said the former Minister of Transport.
Asked why in the 2020 negotiations USR had a choice between Ludovic Orban and Florin Cîţu and chose Cîţu, Cătălin Drulă answered:
“I think there is a bit of legend there, I think things were ripe at PNL. The feeling is that everyone around Ludovic Orban had, virtually speaking, the knives already behind him, I mean the famous winning team these days. At that time, on the image he built, he studied in America, I studied in Canada, it seemed to me that we are somehow colleagues for generations and I had some hopes. Ludovic Orban, in a way, seems much more democratic, but Ludovic Orban is a practitioner of the same type of clientelism taken to the extreme. I think he found so many jobs for hundreds and thousands of people in PNL, he assumes. That gave him strength in the party. “
