Florida reaches 35,000 mark for coronavirus deaths – Telemundo Miami (51)

Coronavirus cases in Florida reached 2,155,744 on Friday after 7,296 new positives and 92 additional deaths of residents in the state were reported, bringing the total deaths since the start of the pandemic reached 35,000, the Health Department reported.

In total, the results of 129,533 tests were reported with a positivity rate of 6.83 percent.

In the last week, 43,937 new cases have been reported: 7,296 on Friday, 6,762 on Thursday, 6,772 on Wednesday, 9,068 on Tuesday, 1,613 on Monday, 5,520 on Sunday and 6,906 on Saturday. The average number of positives to COVID-19 in the last week is 6,276 per day.

We spoke with Dr. Miguel Venereo, Medical Director of Community Care Plan, about the effectiveness of the coronavirus vaccine, the benefits, as well as the possible side effects.

Miami-Dade accumulates 467,464 cases of coronavirus and Broward 226,990. The two counties have the highest number of infected people in the state, where 34,330 residents have already died from COVID-19. Another 670 nonresident people in the state have died in Florida, for a grand total of 35,000.

In Miami-Dade, 6,029 people have died from COVID-19, in Broward 2,762, in Palm Beach 2,715 and in Monroe 50.

In addition, Palm Beach County has had 138,063 positive cases, while Monroe accumulates 6,711. In the state, a total of 87,943 people have been hospitalized since the start of the pandemic.

In the center of the state, Orange County has 130,889 cases and Hillsborough has 129,041 confirmed COVID-19 cases. In the Southwest, Lee County has 66,058 positives and Collier County 34,138.

A total of 7,823,859 people have been vaccinated in Florida, of which 4,910,971 have already received the full dose. In Miami-Dade 1,041,004 people have been vaccinated, while in Broward a total of 713,850 people have been vaccinated, according to figures released by the state.
