“Florida Panthers take lead in NHL semifinals after marathon win against Carolina Hurricanes”

(Carolina Hurricanes – Florida Panthers 2–3, 0–1 in games) The Florida Panthers had to play nearly 140 minutes of ice hockey to win 3-2 and take the lead in the NHL semifinals against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Only 12.7 seconds before the end of the fourth overtime period was the decisive goal from Matthew Tkachuk.

Before that, the teams had played 79 minutes and 47 seconds of extra time without outsmarting each other.

The decision fell when the Hurricanes were pressed in their own zone and could not get the puck away. Tkachuk intercepted it and scored to wild cheers from the away fans.

The hosts in Raleigh, North Carolina had taken the lead at a good time when Seth Jarvis scored twelve seconds before the end of the first period. But at the end of the middle period, Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe turned the game around for the Panthers.

Stefan Noesen equalized at 2-2 early in the third period. Then 96 minutes would pass before the next score came.

The Panthers have secured a good starting point in the final series in the Eastern Conference. The next match between the teams will be played at the same venue on Saturday.
