According to Johnson’s testimony, the animal was about eight feet tall. The incident occurred last Sunday around 9:30 in the morning.

According to the Local 10 television channel, the 60-year-old usually walks around the area around his house in the company of his pet named Rex.

The man said he slipped and his foot got stuck in the mud on the canal bank. “The next thing I see is the bite,” Johnson said, adding that the crocodile tried to drag him into the water.

The victim explained that thanks to his resistance, with a struggle that lasted “long seconds”, the animal released the man’s leg.

Johnson was taken to an area hospital where 62 stitches were taken to close the wound and holes made by the reptile in his right leg.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said a hunter responded in the area and captured the 250-pound alligator Wednesday.
