A Florida man has been found guilty by a court jury of killing his wife, three young children and dog. That happened at the end of 2019 at their home in Celebration, near Walt Disney World.
A 12-member jury found physiotherapist Anthony Todt (46) guilty of four counts of first degree murder and animal cruelty. His wife (42) and children (4, 11 and 13) were found dead in the home on January 13, 2020, as was the family’s dog. Their bodies were wrapped in blankets and they had stab wounds and a toxic amount of the drug diphenhydramine in their blood.
The prosecution stated that after his arrest, Todt casually confessed to the murders. But Todt later stated that he did so to protect his wife. According to him, his wife first killed the children and then herself. The prosecution brushed that story aside, saying Todt wanted to control the lives of his wife and children.
The prosecution does not demand the death penalty, which means that Todt will receive a life sentence.
