Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appealed the ruling of a judge who ruled excess in the exercise of his authority by ordering school boards to refrain from imposing the use of masks in schools.
The governor’s lawyers filed the motion this Thursday in the Court of Appeals of the First District of Tallahassee with the objective that this instance revoke the ruling issued last week by Magistrate John C. Cooper, reported Efe.
State Lieutenant Governor Janette Núñez confirmed Thursday that DeSantis would appeal the decision, but would wait until late September or early October when she had the manuscript of the ruling.
“He is confident that in the appeals court the judges will vote in favor of his appeal,” Núñez told TVV.

Last week, a Tampa County judge ruled in favor of the lawsuit brought by 27 student families against DeSantis over the executive order that prevented the imposition of masks in public schools.
The judge ruled that the state executive order does not preclude school authorities from requiring the use of masks in the facilities, thus giving the green light to the requirement in the state’s school districts.
This decision was a major setback for DeSantis, a staunch defender of the free use of masks in schools and a mandatory opponent of the measure.
