Florida authorities found the body of a two-year-old boy in the jaws of an alligator.
According to the authorities’ report, the minor, identified as Taylen Mosley, was missing and began to be searched for after the police found his mother, Pashun Jeffery, murdered in an apartment in the city of Saint Petersburg, in the county of Pinellas.
The middle CNN indicated that the minor’s father, Thomas Mosley, 21, became the main suspect, for which he was charged with two counts of first degree murder.
According to St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway, authorities began searching for the child after finding the mother’s body and confirming that Taylen was not at home.
Using diving equipment and drones, the police checked a lake near the apartment complex where the crime occurred, and discovered that there was an alligator with “an object” in its snout.
The “object” turned out to be the body of a child. The officers euthanized the animal with their firearms, recovering the corpse and confirming that it was Taylen Mosley’s.
The mother and child were last seen alive last Wednesday, around 5:20 p.m.
A few hours later, around 8:30 pm, her neighbors heard a loud domestic discussion at her home, however, they did not alert the police.
The woman’s mother contacted the building’s administration the next day, stating that she had not been able to make contact with her. This led to the discovery of Jeffery’s body, which showed signs of having been violently assaulted before she died.
The husband of the deceased is hospitalized with several cuts on his hands and arms, but has refused to make any statement to the authorities in charge of his case. According to the police chief, the detainee does not have a lawyer to defend him.
For their part, family members indicated that Jeffery and his son had just moved into the apartment complex last month.
