After an exceptional professional career, the French international, known and recognized for his defense, has decided to begin his retraining in Moselle. He entered National 2 (fourth division) with the Cannonniers de Metz, a club that he intends to help grow.
Who is he ?
You will be refreshed if you have lived in a cave for 20 years or the sound of an orange balloon makes you gag. Florent Pietrus is a monument of French basketball. With 230 selections, he is the fourth most capped French player behind Hervé Dubuisson (259), Jacques Cachemire (250) and Boris Diaw (247). With the Blues, he won five charms: four during European championships including gold in 2013 and world bronze in 2014. His club career also looks great between France (Pau, Nancy, Gravelines, Strasbourg, Levallois and Orléans) and Spain (Valence, Malaga and Madrid). Always with this reputation as an intractable defender.
Why did he choose Metz?
At 39 years old, Florent Pietrus intends, from September 2021, to pass and obtain his sports management diploma at the CDES (Center for Law and Economy of Sport). On the sporting side, he decided to do rab in Metz and have fun with his old friend Patrice Mbianda whom he met in Pau to get closer to his son Ilan, currently at the Strasbourg training center, and his daughter Tayla, who lives in Nancy.
What will he bring to the Gunners?
Florent Pietrus is not the type to fill in the baskets and you should not expect him to score excessively like a LeBron James. He will bring his experience, his science of positioning in the racket and, above all, his defense. His arrival has already had the desired effect, since the club of Lionel Gocel and Denis Robert has made a real solo against Massy (73-51) for the first of the season at home.
