A powerful storm knocked down about twenty trees in the capital on Tuesday night, causing the collapse of traffic on several roads and prolonged blackouts after damaging a dozen poles, after hurricane-force winds moved violently through much of the central zone. , where the fall of hail was also reported.

Floods also added to the emergencies. The Urbina River exceeded the level of the 10 Avenida Norte bridge in San Salvador and forced traffic to stop.

“We have different situations. We have incidents in which billboards and fallen trees are reported,” Luis Amaya, director of Civil Protection, said in a television interview. “We also have 11 East Street and 18 North Avenue, in San Salvador. We have a billboard that has fallen on North 49th Avenue”, and he reiterated the call to take precautions and follow recommendations from the authorities.

The Ministry of the Environment (Marn) indicated that the force of the storm was felt in the Metropolitan Area of ​​San Salvador, and the towns of Colón and Sacocoyo, in La Libertad, for which there are still no reports of damage or emergencies.
