Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region is on red alert as several rivers burst their banks and at least 900 people have been evacuated. A state of emergency has been declared in a municipality, because water streams broke roads and washed away cars. Due to the bad weather conditions, train traffic has been suspended in some places and schools have been closed.
On the other side of the sea – in Croatia – a significant increase in the water level in the Sava and other rivers is expected today. Due to the floods, a state of emergency has been declared in four cities and the Krka National Park is partially closed to visitors. Traffic problems have arisen in many places and many rescuers and hundreds of soldiers have been mobilized.
A similar situation has developed in the western part of Bosnia, where 83 liters of water per square meter have fallen in two days. For example, an orange warning has been announced in the city of Bihac and its surroundings, at least 50 buildings have been flooded and several roads have been closed.
