Last week there were already leaks in the same area, and all after repairs that have cost 12 million euros and have forced the emblematic auditorium to be closed for four years.
“The abandonment of functions by the previous Compromís and PSPV team is unfortunate, which not only did not project a comprehensive reform of the Palau, but also left actions to avoid these problems in the drawer,” municipal sources have pointed out.
From the Valencia City Council they affirm that the municipal orchestra must have “decent facilities”. “No one from the previous government was concerned about it, which shows the lack of sensitivity of Compromís and the Socialist Party,” they say: “They are only dedicated to making proclamations in favor of culture but at the moment of truth they do nothing for it ».

The mayoress of Valencia, María José Catalá, already showed last Friday her “disappointment” because the works projected by the previous government were not enough. «From the first moment the PP requested a comprehensive audit to find out the state of the Palau, but Compromís and PSOE did not want to and now we find ourselves with problems that could have been solved because the Palau has been closed for 4 years, more than enough time to carry out works that will avoid current leaks,” he said.
In the two months that the new government has been in place, new decisions have had to be made at the Palau de la Música that the previous team did not consider as a modification of the work of 300,000 euros to reupholster 1,700 seats (Compromís only provided for 20), approve an expense of 17,000 euros to condition the bathrooms and an audit is already being processed so that the technicians point out what problems the Palau presents in order to solve them, without affecting the Palau’s programming.
