Flooding in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has killed at least 176 people. Dozens of people were injured and an unknown number of people are missing.
The victims all come from the villages of Bushushu and Nyamukubi in South Kivu, the governor of the South Kivu region said. Many of the victims are women and children.
Dozens of injured people are being treated in hospitals. There are fears of more deaths, because people are still missing.
The region was hit by torrential rain. As a result, a river overflowed its banks. The water has also destroyed many buildings in the area and several roads have been washed away by the water.
South Kivu borders Rwanda, where more than 100 people died in floods earlier this week.
