Flooded used cars from Germany have appeared in the Czech Republic in recent weeks, warns Cebia

“In recent weeks, we have recorded cars in our Autotracer inspection system after an insured event, which was assessed by the insurance company as total economic damage due to damage from summer floods. And later, these flooded vehicles were advertised and repaired on Czech advertising portals, “said Cebie director Martin Pajer.

According to Pajer, the risk of buying such a car is increased by the fact that it does not always have to be a fraud. Some dealers may buy an already repaired vehicle without knowing its past and offer it to customers without information that it has been flooded.

Delay problems

According to Cebia, the trick of flooded cars is that problems with electronics or the engine can come even a few months after cleaning and drying the car. The most susceptible components are mainly electrical installations and emission systems. According to the company, it is therefore necessary to focus the inspection mainly on cable harnesses and their connections (connectors), especially in hard-to-reach passages and channels inside the body.

“If turbid water enters the catalytic converters or soot filters located in the exhaust pipe under the vehicle or in the fuel tanks, AdBlue and other operating charges, it is not easy and sometimes impossible to clean these areas so that the vehicle systems continue to function reliably,” the technician added. from Beecamsolutions.cz Jan Karnolt.

According to CarVertical, more than 63 percent of used cars to the Czech Republic are imported from Germany, followed by Belgium with a share of over six percent and the USA with 5.5 percent. Imports of used cars to the Czech Republic in January increased by 30 percent year on year to 13,403 passenger cars.
