Flood situation in Linz: Bridges removed as a precaution

Phase 1 of the flood protection measures along the Danube in Alturfahr was already set up on Friday. Experts say that this measure should be sufficient for now – the flood situation on the Danube is stable.

However, the water levels of the streams coming from the Mühlviertel are rising. Dießenleitenbach, Haselbach, Höllmühlbach and Katzbach are swelling increasingly. The situation cannot yet be classified as critical, but bridges have been removed as a precaution.

  • Dießenleitenbach: The wooden bridge in the underpass of the Linzerstrasse–Freistädterstrasse footpath was lifted out by the professional fire department’s crane. The underpass is completely closed. The Linzerstrasse–Freistädterstrasse passage is partially flooded and already closed
  • Haselbach estuary: At the mouth of the Haselbach in the collecting channel, the two aluminum bridges were dug out by the Linz professional fire department. The Haselbach-Freistädter Straße and Haselbach-Sammelgerinne underpasses are closed
  • Haselbach/Galvanistraße: The access road at Galvanistraße 24 (near the Biesenfeldbad school) was closed off by the Road, Bridge and Hydraulic Engineering Department with mobile flood protection elements
