Flood in Orsk – Water reached Orenburg — UNIAN

The threat of flooding has arisen for many settlements in this region of Russia.

In the Russian city of Orsk, the water began to recede gradually, but in Orenburg and other cities of the region, the flood is only gaining momentum. As reported “RIA Novosti“, in five hours the water level in the Ural River within the city of Orsk dropped by 8 cm.

Ukrainian edition “Schemes” published satellite images taken by the Maxar company. They show the extent of the flood. The images were taken between April 3 and 9, 2024.

Actual footage of the flood directly in the regional center, the city of Orenburg, located downstream of the Ural River, is also published by the Russian mass media.

In addition to Orenburg and Orsk, the threat of flooding also looms over other settlements in the Southern Urals. In particular, it is reported that in the city of Kurgan, the authorities are strengthening the banks of the Tobol River with sandbags. Also in the city, a siren is turned on, which calls on the local population to evacuate. And in the village with the name January 9which is on the outskirts of Orenburg, is hastily building a dam to protect it from water.

As UNIAN wrote, due to the flood in Orsk, there was a threat of flooding for the stationary over-the-horizon long-range radar station “Voronezh M”. This radar is designed to track launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles and provide early warning of the threat of a missile attack on the territory of the Russian Federation.

We also told that on the eve of the flood, the dam in Orsk was “repaired” with prayers. Despite the ceremony, in a day and a half, the quarters closest to the hydrotechnical structure disappeared under water.
