Sudden evacuation from flood in Kałków
The incident took place on Saturday. In the town of Kałków passenger car he was driving on a local road in a place where flood water flooded the road. At one point the car was carried onto the flooded roadside. Only part of the cabin, where the driver was imprisoned.
“Fortunately, the incident occurred near buildings. Action was taken immediately rescue operation. The frightened but healthy driver was extracted from the vehicle,” the officer on duty at the Provincial Police Headquarters in Opole told PAP.
Flooded roads and swollen rivers in Opole Province
Rescuers are appealing for special caution, especially in places where water fills roadside watercourses. In the south of the Opole province, the flood situation is particularly difficult. Water has emerged from the Mora and Złoty Potok riverbeds. Alert levels have been exceeded in Biała Głuchołaska, Prudnik, Opava and Osobłodze. The mayor of Głuchołazy has called on some residents of Jarnołtówek to evacuate. The mayor of Prudnik has made the same appeal to residents of the villages of Moszczanka and Łąka Prudnicka.
Rescue support from various regions of Poland
Currently, in addition to the firefighters of the State Fire Service and the Volunteer Fire Service from the Opole province, WOT soldiers and sappers from the unit in Brzeg, cadets from the Central School of the State Fire Service in Częstochowa, firefighters from the Łódź and Świętokrzyskie provinces are working in the province.
