Water got into K-Citymarket premises on Saturday. The rescue service was alerted for a damage prevention mission.
The front of K-Citymarket in Kajaani was filled with water as a result of heavy rain on Saturday. A video sent by a reader of Iltalehti shows how water has reached the hypermarket’s loading dock and parking garage.
A large part of a white passenger car has remained under water at the loading dock.
Kainuu Sanomat was the first to report on the topic.
Firefighter on duty at the Kainuu rescue service Jani Huovinen says that the stormwater system on the spot could no longer absorb the large amount of water, so the rainwater had taken over Citymarket’s loading dock and a few other properties.
Huovinen confirms that one car was damaged in the flood.
– The water had risen up to the windshield, so there was a lot of it there. Not so many people came to the business premises, says Huovinen.
The rescue service pumped out the water and vacuumed the business premises with a water vacuum. Huovinen cannot say what kind of damage was caused to the properties due to the flood.
The place in question is already familiar to the rescue service, as water easily collects in the place after increased heavy rains.
Iltalehti could not reach the Kajaani Citymarket merchants to comment on the damage.
