‘FlixBus’: we start with a small network in the Baltics, but want to double or triple it

The German international passenger carrier “FlixBus” has been offering long-distance bus transportation in the Baltics since June. This is the second attempt by green buses to enter our market. Last year it was discontinued by Covid-19. Those who have ever used FlixBus buses, for example in Western Europe, will know that the service is much cheaper than competitors, the route network is also impressive, but often due to many connections there are bus delays, but the service is always provided and passengers reach their destination. delivered. Delfi Bizness talked to Mihal Lemans, the company’s CEO in the Baltics, Poland and Ukraine, about FlixBus’ plans in the Baltics, how new routes are being developed and how partners are being sought in Latvia.

By the end of this year, the company plans to open 16 routes between 13 cities in the Baltic States, connecting 24 destinations in five European countries. Unlike last year, green buses also stop at Riga Airport, there will also be stops at Riga Bus Station, Jelgava and Bauska, but in 2022 it is planned to expand the network of stops and destinations. The cheapest “FlixBus” tickets can be bought for 4.99 euros. Other local players in the Baltics also predict a decrease in international bus tickets as competition increases.

FlixBus promises to work with local transport companies. In the Baltic States, its main local partner is already the Lithuanian bus operator Ollex, which provides transportation on new routes. In total, FlixBus has partnered with more than 300 bus partners across Europe.
