In October 2018, Singapore Airlines took back the crown. The airline restarted its 16,700-kilometer route between Singapore and New York, which it had previously discontinued. It’s the longest flight in the world.

But during the Corona crisis, Singapore Airlines had to stop the flight. This break will soon be over. From November 9th, the airline will be sending its A350-900 ULR back on the route. They will be on the ultra-long route between Singapore and New York three times a week.

Freight as an important factor

Instead of going to Newark as before, the A350 will now fly to New York JFK. It anticipates “significant freight demand from a number of industries in the region, including pharmaceuticals, e-commerce and technology,” said Singapore Airlines. And JFK is the more suitable airport for this. Thanks to the transport of goods, many airlines are currently financially able to compensate for the shortage of passengers.
