Flights Paris – New York: which are the five cheapest companies?

Ever more numerous on transatlantic routes, airlines offer direct round trips for sometimes less than 300 euros between Paris and the United States.

Direct flights between Paris and the United States for less than € 300 round trip? What was inconceivable a few years ago is becoming possible with the emergence of low-cost companies on transatlantic routes. For the same price as a Paris-Nice TGV at the last minute, you can get to New York, Boston or Los Angeles. At this price, of course, you have to make concessions, such as traveling light or bringing your meal on board. The basic rate only includes cabin baggage and … that’s it! Adding the meal option, choice of seat or checked baggage can cost half the price of the ticket. This sometimes makes low-cost companies more expensive than traditional companies.

But if the tickets at discounted prices make the happiness of some travelers who have little regard for comfort, they weaken the airline sector. This is evidenced by the bankruptcies of Primera Air (end of 2018), Wow Air (March 2019) and then XL Airways last month. For its part, Norwegian, a pioneer of low-cost long-distance, is regularly talked about because of its fragile financial health. This does not seem to discourage the competitors: Corsair and Frenchbee, two French women, have just announced the launch of flights between Paris and New York from next June.

To establish a fair ranking, Le Figaro conducted research on November 14, 2019 on return flights between Paris and New York, departing Saturday June 13 and returning Saturday June 20, 2020. We indicate each time the price of a ticket, non-exchangeable and non-refundable , including a meal on board and checked baggage.

Frenchbee, a French company belonging to the Dubreuil group (also owner of Air Caraïbes), was the first to offer low-cost flights between the metropolis and French Polynesia. Since 2018, it has been operating a link between Paris-Orly and San Francisco. Frenchbee will operate a daily flight between Paris-Orly and Newark-Liberty airport (New Jersey), about twenty kilometers from New York, from next June. Which perhaps explains this appeal price of less than 400 euros.

Specializing in flights to the Caribbean, Corsair is starting to develop an offer to North America. Since last June, Corsair has flown to Miami four to six times a week from Paris-Orly. In June 2020, it will open a line to Newark-Liberty airport. The option including a meal and checked baggage still costs 75 euros, or 150 euros to pay on a return trip. Its A330-200 fleet has Wi-Fi (from € 8.99) and a multimedia offer (payable from January 2020). Since October 2019, she has been serving Las Vegas by direct flight.
