Flight with 180 evacuees from Afghanistan on their way to Schiphol

Judging by the tail number in the photo that the Ministry of Defense has placed with the message, the plane is en route from Islamabad in Pakistan, but the ministry does not want to “confirm nor deny”.

Last night, the Ministry of Defense announced that another evacuation flight had been carried out through the Netherlands from Kabul. There were 53 people on board, including one Dutchman. A few hours earlier, a flight had already been carried out with 50 people on board. It is unclear whether they are now on the flight of 180 people to the Netherlands.

A flight also arrived at Schiphol on Wednesday. Then it was a C-17 transport aircraft. This time it is an Airbus A330 MRTT.

NATO: 18,000 evacuations

A total of 18,000 people have now been evacuated from Kabul, NATO says. But there are still crowds of people waiting to leave the country. NATO hopes that the number of evacuations will double this weekend.

6,000 people have gone through all the formalities to leave the country, America says. This concerns people with American nationality, but also with other nationalities. It is unknown how many Dutch and Afghans there are among those 6000 people.
