More than 30 hours late
The 180 passengers of the I volotea V7 2214 to Malaga, in Spain, recounted their journey. They were to board the aircraft at 5:30 a.m. (metropolitan time) Saturday July 31 at Nantes. They only left in the afternoon of Sunday August 1, 32 hours late.
As reported France 3 Pays-de-la-Loire, the passengers had to leave the plane to go to a waiting room, three hours after boarding. The flight was announced for 2 p.m., then 6 p.m. It was finally canceled.
A delay without explanation
The passengers spent the night from Saturday to Sunday in hotel rooms. They were only able to take off around 1:30 p.m. This delay also had consequences for the passengers of flight V7 2215 Malaga-Nantes. Indeed, they had to leave with the same aircraft from Nantes.
In addition to the delay without explanation, the passengers of the Nantes-Malaga deplored the conditions of their waiting at the airport. “We were treated like pigs in a cattle trailer“, denounced Isabelle to France 3.
Volotea’s apologies
The airline company Volotea indicated that she apologized to all passengers for the inconvenience caused. She mentioned in particular a technical concern. She also states that she distributed 20-euro vouchers to all passengers, provided all meals and offered free accommodation for the night of July 31 to August 1.
Furthermore, Volotea offered flight change or full refund options for those passengers who wanted it.
