As we wrote earlier, Transavia suddenly canceled flights and left passengers behind in Spain by not picking them up. Ryanair has now also canceled several flights from and to Eindhoven Airport. According to the Dutch airport, no reason has been officially given for this, but it is assumed that this has to do with strikes by the French air traffic controllers on Monday 1 May.
The cancellation of Transavia and Ryanair flights comes at an unfortunate time precisely during the May holiday. The flight cancellations took place on Sunday, April 30 and Monday, May 1. There are a total of six flights to, among others, Reus-Costa Dorada, Ibiza in Spain and Marseille in France.
Ryanair has already announced on Twitter that air traffic control will be on strike in France on Monday 1 May, something that is unacceptable according to the Irish budget flyer. According to Michael O’Leary, 220 flights must be canceled due to this strike, affecting 40,000 passengers.
In the case of Ryanair, this only concerns flights to Reus-Costa Dorada (FR 2213) and the flight to Ibiza (FR 3541) in Spain and the flight to Marseille (FR 6506) in France. The FR 2213 flight from Reus-Costa Dorada to Eindhoven, which should depart at 8.45 am on Monday 1 May, has also been cancelled.
Also at the airport Brussels-Charleroi flights to Spanish destinations have been canceled by Ryanair, such as to Santiago de Compostela (FR 3570) and Málaga (FR 1919).
