Jakarta –
A flight attendant prevents the plane from taking off because passengers dirty the plane floor. He insisted that the floor be cleaned first and then the plane would take off later.
The incident occurred on a Southwest Airlines flight earlier this month. A passenger spilled rice on the aisle floor of the plane.
Quoted from The Sunthe video was shared by Jennifer Schaper via social media and went viral.
“Just got on a plane and a passenger spilled food. Then, the flight attendant shouted ‘who spilled the rice?’. He then walked up and down the aisle. He adamantly refused to leave gate until someone cleans the rice,” Jennifer said.
In the video, the floor does look dirty with piles of yellow rice. The flight attendant was getting annoyed because none of the passengers admitted to spilling the yellow rice.
“Me and the people in my row just giggled and. Uh, then the flight attendant looked at us suspiciously,” he said.
Because none of the passengers acknowledged spilling the rice, the flight attendant finally stepped in to clean the floor.
“The floor was cleaned, but the flight attendant was really angry,” he said.
“He announced to the passengers that we weren’t brought up properly. He expressed how upset and disappointed all the passengers were at that time,” Jennifer added.
The flight attendant’s annoyance continued throughout the flight. Jennifer added that actually the flight was fairly smooth, there were only a number of shocks and the flight attendants did not offer drink service.
Southwest responded to the post. The airline representative apologized for the incident.
“We apologize that our crew was unable to provide refreshments on board due to the turbulent conditions of the flight. Safety is always our number one priority but we hope we can improve next time! Thanks for accompanying us there Jennifer,” she said. add.
Several people have commented on the video. Some netizens said that the passengers should have cleaned up the mess they had made and not handed it over to the cleaners.
Verna Montalvo, cabin cleaner for American Airlines at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, says her team often only has four minutes to clean.
“Some of the flight attendants were annoyed because they weren’t clean. Of course they weren’t clean, because the time to clean up was very limited,” said Verna.
Flight attendant Caroline Kneitz had a similar message. He said passengers had to treat public spaces, including the airplane cabin, as if they were rooms at home.
“If it gets dirty like that, it’s a form of vandalism that causes a big mess. So yes, I’m ordering parents to be alert and careful so that their children don’t mess up the airplane cabin,” he said.
