Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller will not be with the Germany national team in the upcoming matches.
Hans-Dieter Flick will announce Germany’s squad for the upcoming friendlies next Friday.
This will be the first list for the German national team in 3 months, after the disappointment of being eliminated from the group stage in the 2022 World Cup.
Bayern Munich star Thomas Mueller will not be on the list, according to what Flick revealed.
Flick confirmed to the German newspaper “Suduchi Zeitung” that he had spoken with Mueller about this issue, but this did not mean that the door to the German national team was finally closed to him.
Flick said: “I spoke with Mueller and told him that he will not be with the national team in the matches of the coming March and June. But this does not mean that his international career has reached its end, and that he will not have a role in the European Cup 2024.”
He added, “He looks at things as I do and he will not retire internationally. Why would I close the door on a player like Müller? Look at his importance at Bayern Munich. He’s great again and I feel happy for him.”
In an interview with SZ, national coach Hansi Flick talks about the conclusions he drew from the World Cup in Qatar, laments the political expectations the team was confronted with and admits his own mistakes. #SZPlus
