The UWV reported that number yesterday. According to the union CNV, this means that there are tens of thousands of flex workers who have not yet registered.
Real estimate
That seems to be a realistic estimate, a spokesperson for the UWV confirms, although no exact figures are available about the number of people who are eligible for the TOFA.
There are about 800,000 flex workers in our country. These are people who work on a call basis or through an employment agency. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the vast majority of that group is eligible for the ‘ordinary’ unemployment benefit ww.
This is not the case with a maximum of one third (266,000), but a large part of this can claim assistance. For the group that is not entitled to anything, there is the TOFA, a payment of 550 euros per month.
8,500 applications
It is therefore unclear how large that group is. But it is quite conceivable that it has a size of several tens of thousands. With 8500 applications, there are still a lot of people who have not gone to the UWV desk.

CNV calls on all flex workers who are eligible for the scheme to report to the UWV. “This is possible until July 12th. It is an amount of 550 euros per month. For three months, this amounts to 1650 euros. Too high an amount to pass up,” said CNV chairman Piet Fortuin. According to him, it often concerns students with a part-time job who are now unable to pay the rent or who are facing an increasing student debt.
Conditions
Flex workers must meet conditions to be eligible for the scheme. For example, they must have earned at least 400 euros in February and have lost at least half of their income in April. They will not receive any money if they applied for unemployment benefit, social assistance or any other scheme in March, April or May
