For the time being, SG Flensburg-Handewitt has regained the top position in the title race of the handball Bundesliga. The HSC 2000 Coburg, on the other hand, is the second relegated team after TuSEM Essen.
SG Flensburg-Handewitt won their home game against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf on Sunday with 28:24. With seven hits, Hampus Wanne was the hosts’ best thrower, who have now been unbeaten in 55 league games in their own hall. Nejc Cehte was successful six times for the Hanoverians.
The Flensburg team came into the game very slowly against the cup semi-finalists, and it was only shortly before the half-time break that the SG was able to set itself apart with a 4-0 run (12: 9, 27th). After the break, the runner-up largely controlled the action, with the goal at 27:24 (58th), circle runner Johannes Golla eliminated the last doubts about the home win. Returning Henning Fritz (46), who helps out in the SG gate at the end of the season, was again not used.
In the table, Flensburg are 60: 6 points one point ahead of defending champion THW Kiel, who has to play the difficult away game at SC Magdeburg on Tuesday. The Lower Saxony still occupy 13th place.
The HSC 2000 Coburg, on the other hand, is the second relegated team after TuSEM Essen. The Franks lost at the Füchsen Berlin clearly with 20:32 and thus have no chance of staying up. With the victory, the Berliners stay fifth in the table in the fight for the European Cup places, the best thrower of the foxes was the Danish veteran Hans Lindberg with six goals.
Two days after the surprising cup win, TBV Lemgo followed suit in the Bundesliga and won 32:25 at HSG Nordhorn-Lingen, which was threatened with relegation. After the cup failure, MT Melsungen has returned to the road to success. National player Timo Kastening led the Melsung team with nine goals to a 30:28 win against HSG Wetzlar.
