Fleetwood Mac musician Kristina McVie has died

The singer died peacefully in hospital Wednesday morning, with her loved ones in attendance.

“There are no words to describe our grief over the passing of Christina McVeigh. She was truly one of a kind, special and talented. She was the best musician you could have in a band and the best friend you could have in life” We are so lucky to be alive with her. Individually and together, we loved Christina deeply and are grateful for the amazing memories we have. She will be greatly missed,” Fleetwood Mac said in a statement.

McVeigh wrote famous Fleetwood Mac songs like ‘Little Lies’, ‘Everywhere’, ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Say You Love Me’ and ‘Songbird’.

Christina McVeigh, née Perfect, began playing professionally in the late 1960s and has been in a number of British blues bands, including singing with Spencer Davies and Chicken Shack. She became a fan of the group “Fleetwood Mac”, she married bassist John McVeigh in 1968 and joined the group in 1971.

She divorced her husband in 1976 but continued to sing in “Fleetwood Mac” until she left the group in 1998. McVeigh returned to Fleetwood Mac in 2014.

Fleetwood Mac were one of the most popular rock bands in the world in the seventies and eighties. His 1977 album Rumors, inspired by the tumultuous lives of McVeigh and another couple in the group, guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks, became one of the best-selling albums in rock history. The album has sold more than 40 million copies.

McVeigh was one of eight members of Fleetwood Mac inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
