Tripoli –
Libya hit by flash floods. Communication channels in the city of Derna, Libya were cut off.

Authorities asked most journalists to leave Derna and surrender permits to cover the disaster, the same sources said.
These restrictions were implemented after protesters gathered at the grand mosque in the city of Derna. They vented their anger at authorities who they accused of failing to maintain the dam or provide early warning of the disaster.
“Thieves and traitors must be hanged,” protesters shouted, before some demonstrators set fire to the mayor’s house.
The national telecommunications company, LPTIC, said communications were cut due to a “break in the fiber optic network” to Derna.
The company said the power outage, which also affected other areas of eastern Libya “could have been the result of a deliberate act of sabotage” and promised that “our teams are working to fix it as quickly as possible”.
