Flash Doubs. A CAP against cancer in Watchmaking Country

These sessions allow you to talk freely about the disease and its daily consequences.

It was in 2008 that this human adventure began bringing together residents, and one resident, of the Pays Horloger, united around a common illness, breast cancer. “We lived in Le Russey, Noël-Cerneux or Frambouhans, and we went once every two weeks to Besançon to participate in a discussion group” remembers Any Régnier. After two years, the idea emerged to set up such support here, in this territory. “The Cancer Accompagnement Projects association was then born and we have since brought in a psychologist twice a month who has on average around ten people around her who may be affected by all types of cancer. Our discussions are confidential and do not go beyond the scope of our group.” The themes discussed during these meetings are varied: illness of course but also mourning when unfortunately one of the members disappears. “We also stay positive by talking about well-being and morale, we do exercises to feel better and above all we appreciate not being alone in our corner.” If the word projects is part of the name of the association, it is not for nothing, insists the president. “We are indeed talking about the future, which we prefer to see in pink rather than black.” This future, Any Régnier hopes it will also be calm for the association itself because financing is in question: “We had funds coming from the receipts of local theater troupes but the health crisis put a brake on their activities. We must therefore find other resources to finance the visit of the psychologist.” The League Against Cancer was contacted, and volunteers also organize conferences and participate in events such as Pink October to raise awareness of their fight and the importance of having such an association in the sector.
