Samsung will complete the production of Galaxy Note series smartphones by the end of the year. According to the South Korean edition of ET News, the launch of the respective models is no longer envisioned in the company’s 2022 plans. Copies in stores are expected to be withdrawn from sale next year.
This year, Samsung launched approximately 3.2 million Galaxy Note 20s. With the addition of S Pen stylus support to the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 3, the company has integrated the most important “features” of the Note series into the other series for a “painless transition”. Starting next year, Galaxy Note smartphones will no longer be on sale. Instead, the concept of previous Note variants will predominantly correspond to the Ultra version of the Galaxy S series.
Note features will be transferred to the Ultra series
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will be introduced early next year. It is known that the new device will inherit the basic functions and design of Galaxy Note smartphones. The main reason for the removal of the Galaxy Note series from production is shown as the increase in the production of smartphones with foldable screens. Because abandoning the previous options will help avoid internal competition between models and focus on the release of next-generation smartphones.
Samsung shipped 12.7 million Galaxy Notes in 2019 and 9.7 million Galaxy Notes in 2020. The company plans to sell 13 million foldable Galaxy Z series smartphones next year. It is known that the flagships of the Galaxy S22 series will start shipping after the Unpacked event to be held in February next year, and the Galaxy Z series will also be updated in the third quarter.
