Flamengo thrash Volta Redonda and go to the final of the Carioca Championship

Having already started the game with a 3 to 0 advantage on the aggregate scoreboard, Flamengo again imposed its rhythm and it was difficult for Volta Redonda to “write down the plate”. With show of Gabigol -Which made two and gave an assist-, Rubro-Negro thrashed by 4 to 1 and qualified for the final of the Carioca Championship. The other goals were scored by Michael and Vitinho. João Carlos decreased in time-out, from the penalty spot.

Now classified, Flamengo awaits the winner of the duel between Fluminense and Portuguesa, who face each other this Sunday (9th), at 16h, in Maracanã (RJ). In the first leg, the teams drew 1-1, which gives Tricolor the advantage of playing for a draw, once the qualifying round ended in front of the Lusa carioca.

After the rest of this Sunday, Rubro-Negro will become the key to the World Cup Libertadores, where next Tuesday he faces Unión La Calera, in Chile.

Run over

Playing seriously, Flamengo did not let Volta Redonda breathe since the first minutes of the match. With Gabigol and Pedro inspired, Rubro-Negro choked the City of Steel team and piled up a series of goal opportunities. The first half ended 3-0 and could have been more.

On the back of the break, Flamengo kept their grip and expanded after three minutes with Vitinho, destroying any type of unlikely reaction by Voltaço.

The best – Gabigol

He scored two goals, assisted and played his role as captain, something unprecedented by Flamengo. Still in the first half, he even gave Michael a big scolding after the striker supposedly made a “firula” on the field, demanding that he play seriously.

The worst – Andrey

The Volta Redonda goalkeeper ended up missing Gabigol’s second goal when he let the ball pass under his body.

Contested in many moments by the Flamengo fans, Michael and Vitinho left their marks and took advantage of the opportunity given by coach Rogério Ceni.

Not worth!

Volta Redonda hit the net just 1 minute into the first half, but the referee signaled an impediment for striker João Carlos.

Michael opens the score after Gabigol’s assist

Flamengo opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the first half when Gabigol made a good move and served Michael, who was calm in front of Andrey and played with category in the left corner of the goalkeeper.

Nice goal from Gabigol

Flamengo expanded to 20, when Pedro cleared the score, played for Gabigol and the striker gave a beautiful cut to the defender before hitting Andrey’s category.

One more from Gabigol

At 42, Gabigol scored with Matheuzinho and kicked hard. Andrey tried to defend, but ended up letting the ball pass under his body. It was the attacker’s second goal and Flamengo’s third.

Vitinho expands

As soon as three minutes into the second half, Vitinho was released, believed in the move, beat the defender and kicked with category to make it 4-0 for Flamengo.

João Carlos does the honor

In the 45th minute of the second half, Hiroshi kicked the ball first and the ball hit João Gomes’ hand. Penalty that João Carlos beat and did the honor for Volta Redonda.

Gabigol enjoys his song in heating

During the warm-up, the sound system played a song in honor of Gabigol and the striker liked it:
