Flamengo returned to the leadership of the Campeonato Carioca. At the premiere of Gabigol in the 2021 season, the red-black team drew 1-1 with Boavista, tonight (27), in Saquarema, and overtook Volta Redonda. Jean opened the scoring for the hosts and Vitinho left everything the same, even in the first half.
With the result, the Gávea team reached 13 points, the same as Voltaço, but takes the lead due to the goal difference – seven against three. The team from Bacaxá goes to six points. In the next round, Flamengo will face Bangu, in Volta Redonda, while Boavista will face Voltaço, also in Raulino de Oliveira.
Gabigol back
Striker Gabigol was named in the starting lineup and made his debut this season. The number 9 was part of the main cast, who over the past few days worked under the command of Rogério Ceni. This group even joins the rest on Monday. The other names considered to be the starters must return in the next round.
A bomb!
The red-black team started with more possession of the ball, but it was coming up against the strong mark of Boavista near the area. The first big chance, then, ended up being a long-distance submission. After exchanging passes from Fla, Hugo Moura took the leftover and kicked hard. The ball exploded in the crossbar, on the floor, and the home team’s defense went as far as it could.

Flamengo was absolute in the game until the moment when Gabigol missed a pass in the middle of the field and Boavista managed to start a counterattack. After crossing, Fla’s defense cut partially, Jean received at the entrance of the area and hit Hugo Souza’s right angle. Open score with a beautiful goal.
Quick tie
Just five minutes after the hosts hit the net, Gávea’s team came to a draw. In a move on the left, Michael crossed, and Vitinho dominated in the area to beat Klever’s exit.
Complaint
Early in the second half, Vitinho took a free kick, the ball deflected on a player from Boavista and went into the goal, forcing Klever to make the defense. The red-blacks complained about a touch on the arm and the referee even consulted the assistant, but the game continued.
Not like that, Muniz!
Top scorer in the championship, Rodrigo Muniz had the chance to put Flamengo ahead on the scoreboard, but he wasted it. Michael fought for the ball on the bottom line and played back. With no mark in the area, the striker dominated and hit Klever’s exit, but the ball went close to the post and went out.
There and here
In the final stretch, the teams applied a stronger mark, but left spaces and chances appeared. Both Fla and Boavista scared, but failed to convert opportunities into goals. In extra time, Rubro-Negro tried to press, mainly with crosses, but he missed many of the last passes.
